Fun With Grant

The picture above was from a week or two ago. It's so hard to get a picture of Grant lately because he's always trying to grab the camera. On this night, I was sitting on the floor and he was trying to run away from me, wanting me to catch him. So I grabbed the camera, and then grabbed him! Finally!

The following are a few pictures from Christmastime at Temple Square. It was simply beautiful as usual. Grant was just excited to have room to run around. These are a little old, I know, but I forgot to share them before.

A video chasing Grant around the apartment...

He's also started folding his arms when it's time for prayer. It's so cute!

On the phone with Aunt Cammie

So as some of you have experienced, Grant has fallen in love with talking on the phone. He's not just satisfied with having pretend conversations on any old phone anymore: he wants to have a phone that works and someone who talks back. The other day he found my cell phone & brought it to me with a look on his face saying, "Let's call someone!" So we left a message on Cammie's phone. She called back before long and instead of holding the phone to his ear, I decided to hand him the phone and pray that he didn't push buttons and hang up the call. He had crawled up in our rocking glider chair and had slumped down, much like I imagine he might do as a teenager. He and Cammie had a nice little chat while I grabbed the camera.

The Fork Enters Our World

I decided, as I cut up some banana and banana bread for Grant this morning, that it was time for him to test out a fork. I thought it would help keep his mealtime messes to a minimum and maybe keep his hands a bit more clean. I started by stabbing a piece of food and handing the fork to him to put into his own mouth. Soon, he understood the reason for stabbing the food and tried on his own. I sat back and watched as he repeated the plate to mouth routine. I should have realised that he would continue to think about the situation and do whatever made sense to him. As he put the fork in his mouth, often times it would be vertical and he would have a hard time biting down on the food. About halfway through his meal, he began to stab food and then pull it off with his other hand and shove it in his mouth. So much for the hope for clean hands. Oh well, Grant's little mind is hungry for new things and we gave him one today. I figure that if he's going to figure out new things anyway, I might as well help steer him toward things that will help all of us! Maybe tomorrow we'll turn over the dinner preparations to him.... but maybe not.
