MOAB!

Our good friends Nancy & Rob asked us if we'd like to join them and their family on a trip to Moab, UT. We were neighbors through my childhood and I was best friends with their daughters Beth & Katie. We met up with the Bussons (a family we grew up with in Healdsburg ward) and had an awesome weekend! These pictures are from a trail called Hell's Revenge. Grant and Jeremy were in a jeep with Rob and Beth while Nancy and I were in the Busson's jeep with them. Their dog Sadie was sitting in the back between Nancy and I. She reminded me of our family dog Freckles - I love boarder collies! She was so calm through the whole ride, and spent a lot of it of time sprawled across my lap.

Both Jeremy and I took turns driving..... LOOK OUT MOAB!

It was the week of the car show. A lot of the weekend was spent drooling over the cars cruising up and down Main Street. It made for a lot of traffic in such a small town, but it was a lot of fun!

Grant didn't think much of all the cars, but he loved the park where the car show was held!
On Saturday we went up to Arches National Park with Beth, her husband Chris, and their son Cole. While we would have loved to see Delicate Arch up close, the two pictures below were taken as close as we dared to climb with Grant in tow. Can you see the tiny arch over our shoulder?
Jeremy, Chris and Beth hiked up to the Windows while I stayed at the truck with Grant.
Mom - yes, I still stay back in the car with the little one... just like I did in Yosemite with Cammie while you guys enjoyed the nice little hike up to the falls!
Just a few adorable pictures of Cole!

And just in case you hadn't seen it yet, my favorite part of the week happened on the ride home.

How great are my boys?! Thanks for letting me post this Jere!

(FYI, no we don't usually listen to the Backstreet Boys - it was a compilation cd... sheesh!)

Washington Weekend

We took a long weekend and went up to Seattle to visit Jeremy's parents. It was a beautiful weekend - 60 and 70 degree days most of our trip. I don't know what everybody is talking about when they say that Seattle is gray and depressing. Sheesh, just a bunch of complainers!

We drove from Terry & Paula's town of Belfair on the "Big Island" down around the Puget Sound, over Galloping Gertie and north again to Seattle heading for the waterfront. We got fish and chips at Ivar's Restaurant before feeding our leftovers to the seagulls. Grant got kick out of the birds that would swoop down and take food out of your hand, but he was never brave enough to try himself.

Next we ducked into the Sourdough Bakery & Restaurant and got some bread bowls for soup later. Of course we had to have a few samples.

Just down from the bakery was a carousel and we took Grant for a ride. He wasn't too sure about things at first, but once the ride got going, he really loved it. Jeremy enjoyed himself as well.

Next we headed up toward the Pike Street Market to go see the guys throw fish. It was one of the only things that Jeremy knew he wanted to see for sure.

It's a fascinating place. As soon as we climbed the stairs and up to the market level, we saw a stand with tons of fresh flowers. The colors were amazing! I've never seen anything so beautiful that smelled like fish.

The Pike Place Fish Co. is the famous fish tossing place in Seattle. I didn't realise that I'd heard of it before, but I think I saw something about it on a documentary a while ago. The guys that work there have a pretty fun time it seems.

Then we walked back to the car and took the ferry back across the Sound to Belfair where Terry & Paula live.

The next day we went down to the harbor front in Bremerton and had lunch at Anthony's. We gave Grant a little mohawk... HAD to take pictures...

After the meal, we walked along the harbor front, played in the jumping fountains, and saw the USS Turner. We didn't go on a tour (not exactly the kind of thing to take a baby on) but we did see some huge starfish in the water looking off the dock.

Not only were we able to visit Terry and Paula, but finally able to meet little Eathen Shawn Sharp - Grant's first and only cousin on the Sharp side.

Grant hadn't shown a lot of interest in the baby up until it came time to leave and suddenly he couldn't get enough of him. It was so cute!
It was great to be able to see everyone again and we had a really nice weekend.
We were all happily wiped out by the time we got home, but Grant was the only one that was able to show it.
